Exhibition NZ Quilt Symposium Palmerston North

Wow.  I have only managed to walk around half exhibtion and my camera has run out of battery.  So I'll load some of my favourites so far.  The exhibition is being held at the Palmerston North Event Center over four levels.  Very easy to miss a section.  I will post photographs over the next couple of days -squeezing in between events.
Not all these quilts won awards - these are ones that I liked or had interesting elements.

Australian Desert by Carole Sorrell.  I love the use of colour.

Graduation by Kathleen Burford.  Again I liked the use of colour.
In the corner of the garden by Roseary Rush - Merit in the Alive with colour - professional.
Night Watch by Anna Prussing.  Won the Alive with Colour Professional section.  Anna's work is always stunning.
Forest Light by Sheila Christensen
Close up of my entry Hundreds and Thousands.  This is my new class for 2015 Stacking Bow Ties.
Me with my quilt - Hundreds and Thousands.
Simply Childs Play by Lee-Ann Newton. Won Growing the Passion Amateur section.  I love Lee-Ann's work - just stunning.
Exuberance by Jean McLean.  Just stunning. Won Growing the Passion Professional section Plus a judges award.

check out her detail -stunning.
Lehuna by Nobuko windecker - check out the machine applique stitch in the next photo.
A good reminder to experiment with those decorative stitches that come with your sewing machine.

I have lots more to show - but before I go I have left the best for last.  Best of Show
Is it Art by Melanie Martin. Very clever and the workmanship just stunning.

here is a close up.

If you are able to visit this exhibition please make sure you allow plenty of time and take a spare camera battery.  Now of to the merchants mall.

  1. It was a great show. I am only disappointed I only got to spend the one day wandering through.

  2. I loved your Hundreds and Thousands quilt. Very clever indeed, and the overall effect from further back was great.
